A Domain Name is essentially your website's address on the Internet (i.e., www.MoxieMediaDesigns.com). Domain names must be purchased from a third-party supplier, but they are quite inexpensive and are usually paid for on a yearly basis.
A Web Host is a company that provides you with space on the Internet on which to store the files that make up your website. A web host is generally paid on a monthly or yearly basis. The price varies widely based on how much space you need for your files, how much traffic you expect on your website and what sorts of programming languages are used in building your website.
E-mail Forwarding, also called an "e-mail alias", allows you to have e-mail automatically forwarded to a second e-mail address. For example, the e-mail address shown on your website might be info@yourdomain.com, but all e-mail sent to that address automatically gets forwarded onto your own personal e-mail account. This allows you to have a professional looking e-mail address on your site, but prevents you from having to check multiple accounts for new mail.
A Hit Counter indicates the number of visitors, or hits, your website or a particular page on your website has received. A hit counter can either be displayed discreetly on your website (usually at the very bottom) or can be hidden from public view altogether, creating a more professional look. Reports can be run from your hit counter detailing the amount of activity on your website.
A Contact Form is an area of your website where a visitor can fill in fields with their information and submit it to you without having to email you. This gives you the ability to request specific data from your visitors. A contact form is better than just providing a link to your email because the link won't work if the visitor uses web-based email such as Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail.
A Slide Show is a series of pictures that play in a loop. These can be set up to run automatically in a specific or random order. They can also have user controls that allow the visitor to go back and forth through the pictures by clicking on buttons.
An Expanding Menu is a type of menu system used for navigation through your site. When a visitor clicks on a main menu button, a list of submenu headings appears underneath or out to the side. Various effects can be used to achieve a desired look.
A PDF file is the de facto standard for exchanging documents on the Internet. With a PDF, you can either scan a paper document or convert a digital document (such as a document you created in Microsoft Word) and then distribute that document via your website. This is wonderful for flyers, brochures, fact sheets, or anything you would like a visitor to be able to print out. In addition, fields can be created on your document which allow the visitor to type directly onto the document then print it. This is great for forms such as an application or new patient information form.
eCommerce is the ability to sell your products directly from your website.

The cost to build your website can vary greatly depending on what you want your site to do. A good, basic informational site can be created for about $250, whereas a large e-commerce site with all the whistles and bells would cost significantly more. Whatever your budget, I can work within it to create a website for you that I know you'll love!
