Artists Showing at Courtyard Gallery

Courtyard Gallery's primary focus is on artists within a 100 mile radius of Cuero. Many of the artists represented by Courtyard Gallery are happy to do private commissions. Please ask.

NANCY BANDY - With a Master of Arts, Ms. Bandy taught art at Victoria College for over 25 years. When not creating award winning art, she is a cellist with the Victoria and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestras. She is shown in galleries across Texas.

ELE CHEW-WRIGHT - With a bachelor’s degree from Tokyo and a master’s degree in biology, Ms. Chew escaped the world of biotechnology to incorporate form, color, and movement into art pieces featuring glass and metal. She and husband, Bruce Wright, are busy turning the old Adickes Lumber Yard into the Cuero LumberYard Studio.

RICK COPPEDGE - A native of Cuero, Mr. Coppedge’s work features uniquely painted glass vases and bowls. Entirely self-taught, he also creates mosaics and garden art.

STEPHEN DUFFIN - A graduate of the Chicago School of Art, Mr. Duffin creates sculptures, landscapes, and still life works in the style of the Impressionists, featuring scenes from throughout DeWitt County.

DON JONES - Don is a self-taught woodturner and woodcarver. The fluid contours of bowls, vases, and various lidded forms all take graceful shape in his studio. He favors native found woods such as mesquite which he fashions into graceful bowls which often include inlaid crushed malachite and turquoise. Don's hand-turned trees made from old cedar fence posts are becoming beloved heirlooms.

FRANK KLEIN - This Sunday School Teacher developed a serious interest in photography over twenty years ago. His work can be described as “real,” as in no digital manipulation, of genuine people, places, and things.

KATHY KINSEL KLEIN - Ms. Klein uses the pixels in her digital photography as pieces of a mosaic or brushstrokes in impressionism. Unlike her husband, Frank Klein, she enjoys “pushing the envelope” in her manipulation of digital photographs.

LISA MARTIN AND BRAD SMITH - "Little Ranches" purses, sweeping across Texas, are the brainchild of this creative duo. Made from vintage cowboy boots, these purses feature gorgeous stone handles that can double as necklaces.

JENNIFER J. MARTIN - Ms. Martin is a writer and fiber artist drawn to the natural fibers of silk, cotton, and linen. She creates designs of depth and complexity, specializing in home accessories and women’s fashion pieces.

NELDENE MATUSEVICH - After receiving a Master’s degree in Art, Ms. Matusevich came to a realistic approach to painting, a switch from the abstract work throughout most of her education. Her award-winning works are in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., as well as Singapore, France and Mexico.

FRANK MILLER - Mr. Miller’s sculpture, oils, and drawings are a result of a lifetime of learning and teaching. For 28 years, he was an elementary school art teacher in Port Lavaca, remembered and loved by many.

RED AND MARI MILLER - This husband and wife team makes beautiful custom wood furnishings at their studio on Main St. in Cuero. In addition, Mr. Miller offers photographs of nature, striking in their clarity.

JILL PANKEY - During the past twenty years, Jill has established herself as an artist in Austin, San Antonio and in South Texas, particularly in the Coastal Bend area. She holds a Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas-San Antonio, and is currently a lecturer at Texas State University-San Marcos. While at Corpus she concentrated her efforts in painting and drawing in oils, watercolors, pencil, pen & ink and pastels. She has also received meritorious awards from state and local art organizations for her art works. Visit her website to see examples of her work.

LEON POLZIN - Beloved and respected, Mr. Polzin brings over 53 years of experience to his custom designed stained glass and glass restoration work.

BRUCE WRIGHT - Mr. Wright says he came, “from the west, to THE WEST.” An urban street photographer, he is looking forward to capturing the space and nature that exemplify South Texas.
